Is it possible to protect yourself completely against skin cancer?
Recently, we received this question. As you may suspect, the answer is not so simple. There are various causes of skin cancer. By far the most common is UV radiation. We know the ultraviolet rays of the sun, but they are also present in professional life or in the solarium. All of them are capable of completely destroying skin cells.
In all cases, our skin also stores the damage, and, if you will, deposits it into a skin cancer account. This skin cancer account cannot be paid off or reduced; it inevitably becomes larger with each new UV radiation. Due to our now and fortunately ever-increasing life expectancy, the risk of disease rises even more. |

In short: you must protect yourself from UV radiation if you do not want to inevitably develop skin cancer over the course of your hopefully long life. Experts agree: the best protection is sustainable UV protective clothing with a high UV protection factor. TÜV certifies iQ UV to provide over 99.9% secure protection, which is the maximum you can achieve. Follow a few rules: apply sunscreen to your face, stay in more shade than direct sun, avoid midday heat, and never stay in the sun longer than your skin type (see extra article in the iQ Blog) prescribes. This will already put you on a good path.
It goes without saying that a tanning bed should only be used in the case of therapeutic reasons. There are certainly modern facilities that minimize the risk, but you will hardly receive a recommendation for a solarium from a dermatologist. Those exposed to technical UV radiation in their profession are aware of the risk and protect themselves with so-called PPE, Personal Protective Equipment.
Now for the less fortunate news: genetic material can also contain skin cancer information. In this case, we cannot guarantee you 100% protection. Nevertheless, the rules mentioned above remain valid, and you are on a better path if you follow them.
By the way, UV radiation also favors any other type of cancer. So, if you are predisposed, you should definitely soak up only as much sun as your body can tolerate.

Special case: what if I have already received a skin cancer diagnosis? The good news: it is never too late. White skin cancer can be well cured if detected early. Even black skin cancer is not necessarily a death sentence. Your doctor will provide you with a therapy that helps your health. And if your doctor is good, he will recommend sun protection, preferably sun protection to wear with a secure UV protection certificate. Clothing is the safest choice because UV protective clothing remains constant. Unlike sunscreen, iQ UV does not lose protection through prolonged wear, saltwater, your own sweat, friction, or other environmental influences.
Back to the question: you can absolutely prevent skin cancer. And no, there is no 100% protection against skin cancer. But we can offer you 99.9% protection with iQ UV and significantly increase your chances of staying healthy. Use it.
