What does CE mean and is it an obligation?

We understand that the jungle of labelling, guidelines and regulations is often opaque for consumers. That's why we keep receiving enquiries and would like to provide clarification here in plain language. If you prefer the official language, you may have to "google it". Today we are talking about the CE mark on products.

CE stands for "Conformité Européenne" and indicates that a product fulfils the requirements of all EU directives. This may sound vague at first, but it is of great importance. It means that products with the CE mark are of high quality and do not pose a health risk. Specific criteria apply to different product categories in connection with CE labelling. 

In the case of UV protective clothing, this refers in particular to Directive 89/686/EEC for personal protective equipment. This may sound technical, but ultimately it means that iQ UV products offer safe UV protection, use healthy materials and do not pose any risks during handling, cleaning or disposal. The CE mark gives you the assurance that iQ UV clothing and products meet the highest health and safety standards. It is therefore important to pay attention to this.
