Winterurlaub Sonnenbrand

Skiing holiday? Sure, but stay sun-safe.

UV rays increase at high altitudes

Your health is important to us, which is why we would like to draw your attention to skin hazards for which we do not offer a solution among our products. And today we're talking about skiing holidays.

Who hasn't seen the bright red faces of après-ski holidaymakers - no, not because of the increased alcohol level, but because of a fatty sunburn. The powder snow in the blazing sun is too tempting, and you spend the whole day going up and down on your skis. A helmet is standard these days, and a thick hat is a must. Neither will prevent UV rays from hitting your face and certainly not your ears.

Skin Aging

The skin is particularly thin on the head and is more prone to skin diseases than on many other parts of the body. The result is premature skin ageing, deep wrinkles, leathery skin and - if you overdo it long enough - skin cancer. People with sensitive skin know this. People who already have skin damage are even more so. So do yourself a favour, stay healthy and apply a thick layer of SPF 50 to your face. As we assume that you are otherwise well-dressed, the rest of your body doesn't need any additional protection. But if you're going après-ski and the sun is still beating down like a dream, then take off your helmet and put on a UV cap or beanie. And we do have these in our programme.

And if you really don't fancy wearing thick sun cream on your face, then we can think of something else that might help you: our UV protection tube scarf, which you can get in white, black, blue or camouflage to match your outfit for between 18 and 22 euros. Given the price of sun cream, this might be a good alternative after all.

Break a leg on the pistes and - for the sake of nature - please stay safe on the pistes and don't ski on any glaciers. Thank you.
