Good intentions - but sustainable
On New Year's Eve, we make all sorts of resolutions for the coming year. It's always the same – quit smoking, lose weight, exercise more, eat healthier, spend more time with friends and family, and much more. We've examined the best resolutions for 2024 and provide tips on how to stay committed.
1. Save money. The classic goal is challenging in times of high prices, inflation, and uncertainty.
Our tip: buy clothing made from sustainable, preferably recycled materials that lasts longer. Avoid seemingly cheap goods from low-wage countries; this also helps the workers there, and you won't end up with clothes falling apart after a few washes. Opt for UV protection clothing instead of sunscreen for your health during summer. Sunscreen harms the environment, especially water, and is usually packaged in plastic tubes. A UV shirt replaces over 10 kilograms of sunscreen during its lifespan, saving your wallet, the environment, and your health. Finally, a tip for saving on groceries: pay attention to the origin and only buy the quantities you really need.
2. More exercise. It's demanding, yes, but in a healthy body resides a healthy ... you know the saying. But how? The inner couch potato is a very chubby dog after the holidays. Therefore, do gymnastics, stretching exercises, and a bit of strength endurance at home. "Liebscher & Bracht" show you how. And twice a week, make a firm commitment with friends or join a club. It's twice as fun in a group, and everyone motivates each other.
3. Less internet. A pious wish that is rarely implemented. We already have too many apps for work and personal use. An easy method helps: put your phone away for two hours at fixed times, turn it off, and marvel afterward at how little relevant has happened.
4. More environmental protection. Sustainability is on everyone's lips but still far from perfection. Most people criticize companies and politics, but it starts with each of us in small ways. That's why we at iQ UV publish our own sustainability report every year. In it, we measure ourselves and pay attention to:
- Use no paper in the office (only digital)
- Avoid plastic packaging (use only recycled cardboard)
- Avoid unnecessary trips (such as working from home)
- Generate our own electricity (solar panels on our warehouse roof)
- Use clothing made from recycled materials (shirts made from PET instead of plastic in the ocean)
And to make this credible, we regularly undergo checks by EcoVadis, OekoText, and TÜV.
