Every day counts and is important

It's no longer a secret:

Skin cancer develops over decades of improper behaviour or equally long occupational stress and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) at work. With each exposure to UV radiation from the sun or visits to the solarium, you are "saving" on your skin cancer account, steadily and irrevocably increasing your risk of developing either white or black skin cancer.

While the sun gives us good mood, Vitamin D, and energy, too much of it has always been and is increasingly becoming a health risk due to climate change. iQ UV has been researching mainly in textile sun protection - or as we call it, UV protection to wear. We have compiled the most important tips from dermatologists and radiation researchers for you, allowing you to live on the better, healthier side, get enough sun, but avoid unnecessary risks.

  1. Don't do without the sun, but soak it up in moderation and always be well protected.
  2. Enjoy your holiday, a day at the lake, in the outdoor pool or by the sea.
  3. Top up on vitamin D with walks lasting between 20 and 30 minutes.
  4. Avoid sunburns at all costs, these are burns to the skin caused by overexposure to the sun!
  5. Observe yourself: see a dermatologist if your skin shows any changes, because the earlier skin cancer is recognised, the greater the chances of recovery.
  6. Do not stay in the sun longer than your skin type (more information in the blog) recommends.
  7. Start in spring with very short periods in the sun so that your skin gets used to it.
  8. The best protection against UV rays is certified UV-protective clothing that you enjoy wearing.
  9. Cover your head and wear sunglasses, as your scalp and eyes are very sensitive.
  10. Apply a generous amount of sun cream (SPF 30, preferably 50) to all unprotected areas of skin (approx. 30 - 40 ml for the whole body).
  11. If you want to go in the water, use waterproof sun cream and reapply every 2 hours.
  12. Protect your children completely from the blazing sun and dress them in clothing that covers their skin.
  13. The artificial UV rays in sunbeds have the same risk as natural UV rays.
  14. Take extra precautions by the sea due to the reflection of UV rays from the water and the pleasant coldness of the water (UV rays are up to 90% stronger here).
  15. Protect yourself particularly well in the mountains due to the more intense UV rays and the deceptive coolness of the mountain air (UV rays are up to 50% stronger here).
  16. When skiing, both effects come into play: reflection from the snow and high altitude air, so always use SPF 50+ for your face and ears.
  17. Check whether you belong to a special risk group: many moles, very pale skin, hereditary pre-existing conditions and protect yourself intensively.
