Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use sunscreen under an UV-shirt?

No, an iQ-UV piece of clothing protects your skin perfectly and safely. Free body parts must of course be protected with sunscreen, we recommend at least SPF 30.

Can my body produce enough vitamin D even though I wear UV clothing?

Yes, the body absorbs sufficient amount of sun on the face, hands and eyes to make enough Vitamin-D.

How does the high iQ-UV protection work?

The high UV protection comes from the materials, the fine-meshed structure and the special processing of the iQ-UV fabrics. iQ-UV protection is physical, and thus permanent. This type of UV protection is free of chemicals and doesn’t need additional impregnation.

What means UPF 300?

UPF 300 or Sun Protection Factor tells you that wearing iQ-UV clothing you increase the protection of your skin by a factor of 300. With our UPF 300 clothing, you can stay in the sun 300 times longer than unprotected.
Example: If you are skin type 2 your skin has a self-protection of about 15 minutes before it gets damaged by the UV rays. With iQ-UV 300 your skin is perfectly protected 300 times of 15 minutes and you can enjoy the sun all day long.
Remember that only the skin areas covered by the UV protective clothing are protected.

What is UPF and SPF?

UPF stands for "Ultraviolet Protection Factor" and SPF means "Sun Protection Factor". Both indicate the (time) factor by which the skin's own protection is prolonged.

How much UV radiation does iQ-UV clothing block?
Does iQ-UV protect against UV-A and UV-B radiation?

Clothing and caps from iQ-UV protect against over 99% of UV-A and UV-B radiation.

Does the colour of clothing play a role in the UV protection factor?

Darker colours have a higher UV protection factor than lighter colours. However, the UV protection factor we have identified is also achieved by the brightest colours.

Who checks the iQ-UV protection?

We regularly test the UV protection of our products according to the Australian/New Zealand standard (AS/NZ 4399: 2017).
